After almost 12 miles of walking, the troop has returned from Garden Ground Mountain! We did activities such as Indian lore, learned to use spears and other projectiles (even trebuchets!), Highland Games, Spartan races, and much more! It was well worth the strenuous (but enjoyable) long hike up!
Getting ready to hike to Garden Ground this morning!

Whitewater

We all had a blast whitewater rafting! Even though the rapids weren't what they could have been, getting caught in a massive rainstorm made it so much fun!

Today on How Not to Cook, Boy Scouts found out that frying bacon in the rain usually ends in fire!

Trading Time!

Mail? Send it!

Dear parents,
It may have come to your attention that us scouts aren't always as prepared as we should be.
We tend to forget some things, even though we insist that we packed them (and triple checked).
We also know that you love us, and might want to let us know through a letter or package.
That being said, if there's anything that needs to get from Illinois to West Virginia ASAP, you can mail it to the below address!

[First and Last Name of the Scout or Scouter]
[Troop/Crew No. (i.e., B2311, B2310, F5242D)]

Thanks!

Service Project

During Jamboree, every troop goes outside of the SBR and does a service project in the surrounding communities. Our troop had the pleasure of helping out at the historic Campbell-Flannagan-Murrel House Museum in Hinton. We moved a lot of stuff around, did some landscaping, and repainted an iron fence on the property. The staff were kind enough to give us a tour of the house as well, and I know we all learned a lot of interesting stuff about the families that lived there, all while having a fun time helping out!

Day One Breakfast

Surprised Cracker Barrel by showing up for breakfast instead of Golden Corral! The great food was worth the wait.

We're Off!

Hi all scouts, scouters, parents and friends of scouting, welcome to Troop D2310a's official Jamboree blog! I'm Sam Jacobs, our troop's Scribe. I'll be posting updates/posts throughout the trip to keep you all up-to-date on our activities and experiences.
After much preparation, anticipation and something else that rhymes, D2310a has begun our trip to the Summit Betchel Reserve. The excitement level is through the roof of the charter bus, and we can't wait to arrive and have fun. Keep checking back for updates throughout the duration of camp for more!
